Each lateral conveyor is controlled by a Telemecanique TSX 47 programmable controller, while the central conveyor is controlled by a TSX 67 controller. These controllers are linked together through a Telway network which communicates information exchanges necessary to operate the workshop. Eventually the safety aspect of the functioning is dealt with when students are required to start the workshop up again after a power failure. This project aims to identify the condition of the workshop before the power failure in order to resume the manufacturing process under normal conditions.

Today's advanced microcomputers offer extremely fast processing speed and vibrant high-resolution color graphics capabilities at affordable cost. By using carefully developed courseware (software used for coursework), these technologies can be used to strengthen engineering course delivery and provide laboratory innovation.

Such an approach is characterized by relatively easy development and a straightforward utilization.
